Play media from saved links

When a saved bookmark URL matches a supported provider, WebCull can show the player in the bookmark detail panel.

  • Supported providers include YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Reddit, Spotify, Twitch, Streamable, Dailymotion, CodePen, SoundCloud, Twitter, and TikTok.
  • Use the bookmark detail panel as the place to review playable links.
  • Some providers can show a preview first and load the player after interaction.

Media embeds are controlled by a private bookmark manager setting.

  • Turn Media Embeds on from bookmark manager settings.
  • Turn the same setting off when you do not want provider embeds to render.
  • During E2EE setup, the media embed toggle defaults off.

Understand third-party loading

Playable embeds load content from the media provider, not only from WebCull.

  • When an embed loads, your browser contacts the third-party media provider.
  • Where supported, WebCull uses privacy-oriented embed URLs such as YouTube's nocookie domain.
  • If E2EE is enabled, WebCull shows a privacy warning before saving the setting.
