Step 01 Completed

Planning

Planning covers the user problem, scope, constraints, success criteria, dependencies, and the ordered implementation plan established before development begins.

Quick access
Completed
Checkpoint 01

Keep frequent destinations within reach

The Sidebar will provide a compact place for the folders and links a person uses most often. Those shortcuts will remain available while moving through the rest of a bookmark collection.

This keeps quick access separate from the main folder structure, so a bookmark can stay organized where it belongs without becoming harder to reach.

Workspace behavior
Completed
Checkpoint 02

Reveal the Sidebar only when it is needed

The Sidebar will stay just beyond the left edge of the workspace and slide into view when someone moves there to use it. After the interaction is complete, it will move out of the way so bookmark lists keep their full working space.

Drag and drop
Completed
Checkpoint 03

Use familiar drag-and-drop organization

Links and folders will be added to the Sidebar through the same drag-and-drop interaction used to organize bookmarks. Sidebar shortcuts can be reordered or removed, and their linked items can be dragged into bookmark lists without introducing a separate management screen.

Step 02 Active

Developing

Developing covers working product slices, implementation decisions, completed surfaces, open risks, and changes to the approved scope.

Checkpoint 04

Build the saved Sidebar foundation

Build the edge panel, load saved folder and link shortcuts into it, and keep their order available across sessions. The Sidebar will remain unavailable to customers until the complete interaction is ready for a controlled preview.

Checkpoint 05

Complete movement between the Sidebar and bookmark lists

Complete the full drag workflow for adding and reordering Sidebar shortcuts, placing linked items into a chosen bookmark location, and removing shortcuts without changing the original bookmark unexpectedly.

Checkpoint 06

Fit the Sidebar to supported WebCull surfaces

Refine the Sidebar for the WebCull web app and supported browser extensions so edge opening, saved shortcuts, and drag-and-drop behavior remain dependable wherever the Sidebar is offered.

Step 03 Upcoming

Testing

Testing covers validation across supported environments, including defects, accessibility, privacy, packaging, copy, translation, and readiness for full launch.

Checkpoint 07

Run a controlled Sidebar preview

WebCull will invite a small group of people to use the Sidebar with real bookmark collections before making it generally available.

The preview will focus on whether edge access feels natural, saved shortcuts remain dependable, and moving items between the Sidebar and bookmark lists matches what people expect.

Real-world use
Upcoming
Checkpoint 08

Study the Sidebar in everyday bookmark workflows

WebCull will follow how people use the Sidebar for recurring research, active projects, daily references, and large bookmark collections.

Real workflows will show which shortcuts earn a permanent place, where the Sidebar saves time, and what should improve before wider release.
